Marvel may have now confirmed a major element of their upcoming Blade reboot, as young actress and The Wonder Years star Milan Ray has reportedly been added to the cast. Coming courtesy of The Direct, the child actress has joined the MCU project "as a key character,” and while details are currently unconfirmed, it is very possible that she could be playing Blade’s daughter, Fallon Grey.

The casting of the 14-year-old actress Milan Ray, who is best known for her roles in The Wonder Years and Modern Love, lines up with the previous rumor that Fallon Grey will play a major role in Marvel’s Blade. A previous report claimed that the studio was actively looking to cast a mysterious character named “Ruby,” a teen described as "thoughtful, serious, and burdened by growing up in a complex world.”

The report also called Ruby "a strong supporting role in the film," which led many Blade fans to theorize that she would be revealed to be Blade’s estranged daughter, and thus bring an entirely new perspective to the world of the vampire hunter. Named Fallon Grey, the daughter of Blade was set to lead her own comic book series, which would have followed the teenager as she discovers that she is in fact the daughter of Eric Brooks AKA Blade, and thus has a legacy of vampire killing to live up to. Writer Tim Seeley (Death of Wolverine: The Logan Legacy) and artist Logan Faerber (Secret Wars: Battleworld) were due to bring Fallon Grey to the page, but Seely later came to the realization that he was perhaps not best suited to write the series considering it was set to focus on a black teenager.

So, while the addition and debut of Fallon Grey remains unconfirmed, bringing Milan Ray into the fold is the biggest hint so far that Marvel’s Blade reboot will bring the character to the big screen when the Daywalker enters the MCU.

Plot details for Blade remain under wraps, but an alleged leaked synopsis has revealed that the project will remain close to the source material. “Himself a half-human/half-vampire, “Daywalker” Eric Brooks (Ali) has honed his abilities to hunt down the undead who have long terrorized mankind,” the alleged logline reads. “A human-vampire hybrid since his tragic birth, Blade has spent his long life seeking to rid the world of vampires like the one that killed his mother. Over the years, he has mastered his own style of fighting monsters of all kinds.”

The new Blade has already made his MCU debut, with his voice heard off-screen during a post-credits scene at the end of Eternals. An appearance that Ali lost sleep over. “You lose a lot of sleep over it. I was losing sleep over this line because, ideally, you want to be talking once you are filming,” the actor explained. “One hundred percent of the time, my first day on any set, on any job, I hate it. I hate how I sound. I don’t believe myself. You’re trying to get comfortable in the character, so to have to talk before you actually film was challenging.”

Watchmen writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour will write the script for Marvel’s Blade reboot, with Mogul Mowgli director Bassam Tariq on board to helm the movie. Da 5 Bloods star Delroy Lindo will star in Blade alongside Mahershala Ali and Milan Ray.

Blade has not yet been given a release date.
